Statement:
The project aims to re-center LA River as a core/origin of the city. To achieve this goal, we amplified the interconnectivity between over-civilized landscape and natural landscape on the site - Taylor Yard G2 located at the middle of the LA River stream.
At the same time, the project challenges the typology of park – playful and refreshing wide open space. The project proposes a park as an energy source of the future sustainable metropolitan LA. The park becomes an extreme infrastructure with natural eco systems co-existing into it. The existing contaminated soil on the site is used to create to new elevated platforms as a mass within a contained structure to allow plant life to grow out of, in turn refurbishing the soil and to make use of the pre existing conditions on the site.
Our proposal extends the LA River’s water way into the G2 site expanding the volume of the channel, allowing for the design to connect to lower levels of the river with sunken platforms.
