From my end, Architecture is all about how to put things together considering its time, user, and environment. As an artform, it has to not only shelter human beings but also enhance his life on earth.
Teahan Kim is an Architectural Designer based in Los Angeles focused on designing contemporary building environments. Recently graduated from SCI-Arc(BArch’20) in Los Angeles, and previously studied at Hongik University(BFA’16) in Seoul.

Paris Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2020
Architectural Designer
11.2019 – 01.2020 / Paris, France
Led an international design team to create 800 sq.ft private showroom showing the experimentality of PAF with visually explosive facade and installation arts. PAF achieved the highest sales rate through the showroom since the brand was established in 2018.
Prolonged Ground: Anthropocene Architecture
SCI-Arc Undergrad Thesis 2020
Architectural Designer
01.2019 – 04.2019 / Los Angeles, USA
In the current Anthropocene epoch, our thesis, Prolonged Ground, asks to consider itself as a geological actor which becomes a protagonist of the architecture project by using earth and all of its embedded elements as a raw material. This new building is used as a new museum for exhibiting geological memories of its ground and existing as new strata for communal activities above the mystic ground of Los Angeles.
1172 Robertsone Blvd, Los Angeles CA 90035
SCI-Arc Construction Document Project
Architectural Designer
01.2019 – 04.2019 / Los Angeles, USA
Participated in team of 5 to design a 4-story mixed-use building located in Los Angeles. The building has a beautiful atrium for more daylight penetration and passive air ventilation. Also, the lifted corner of the building opens its ground floor and central atrium to provide unique public space to its urban context.
Steel Tube Cladding Facade
SCI-Arc Design Development Project
Architectural Designer
09.2018 – 12.2018 / Los Angeles, USA
Led team of 5 to execute design development phase of a 4-story multi-complex building located in Mexico City. The building’s Steel Tube Cladding Facade System creates amazing building experience with Mexico City’s ever-changing sunlight condition coming through the gap between each unit. Also, the facade makes the building both contrasting and harmonious with surrounding buildings due to its reflecting materiality.
The Atrophos
Lucy McRae Studio 'Nullius Filus – Funded by 2027'
Architectural Designer / Film Producer
09.2019 – 12.2019 / Los Angeles, USA
Produced fictional documentary film The Atrophos – Poorly Nourished Neuralinkan. The background of the film is the future when implanting Brain Machine Interface(ex. Neuralink) becomes the new normal. Therefore, the humankind becomes intellectually superior. However, due to the fact that we do not need physical movement with our body as much as before, our body becomes obsolete(atrophos: from Greek, ‘lack of food’, ‘poorly nourished’; atrophy).
Levitating City
Collective Future 'Infinite Dimension Workshop'
Architectural Designer
01.2019 – 04.2019 / Los Angeles, USA
Mars architecture, Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, and experimental parametric architecture collide in a ground-breaking event. The rendez-vous of all these multi-disciplinary creators, thought visioning our parametric design research, using Mars habitat as an experimental subject, have opened access to an infinite dimensions beyond a 3-Dimensional features in Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality.
Over-civilized Waterscape
Florencia Pita Studio 'Fake Nature – LA River'
Architectural Designer
01.2019 – 04.2019 / Los Angeles, USA
This studio investigated the fabrication of artificial landscapes, within the context of industrial infrastructures and a river of concrete. The LA River is undergoing mayor transformations, what once was nature, is now a hardscape of concrete that spans 51 miles. The potential of this river to shift from infrastructure to public spaces could transform the city of Los Angeles, and provide a new model of reuse, were active (as opposed to obsolete) infrastructure can perform multiple urban capacities. Under the topic of FAKE NATURE, the studio looked at nature not for what it means but for what is exposes, a kind of semblance of nature.
Doublings
SCI-Arc 4A Studio 'Four Fold: Precedent, Tectonics, Aesthetics, & Composition'
Architectural Designer
09.2018 – 12.2018 / Los Angeles, USA
Precedent, Tectonics, Aesthetics, & Composition: This four-fold structure is intended as an underlay for producing a multi-dimensional architectural proposal. This provides an experimental platform for testing ideas and their execution, with the crafting of a position having as much currency as the crafting of the project and its representations.
Contextual Grid
SCI-Arc 3B Studio 'AMIGAA: Architecture as Mass, Interiority, Ground, Aperture and Articulation'
Architectural Designer
01.2018 – 04.2018 / Los Angeles, USA
The studio focused on the design, development, and tectonic logic of the building envelope and its ability to articulate contemporary formal organizations. Assemblage versus monolithic form, surface versus mass, iconicity and image, the intentional obscuring of hierarchical mass, layered, and graphic assemblies, tectonics and materiality, constitute a range of concerns in the design work. Beyond design competence, the studio articulated and argued for conceptual and disciplinary positions in relation to issues of AMIGAA in anticipation of more advanced work in vertical and thesis studios.
